Project Resumes Construction under Brockwell’s Rectification Plan

Brockwell are pleased to confirm the Earls Gate project will return to full construction activity, following the creation and approval by the board and the project lenders of the Rectification Plan to recover and take the project into commercial operations. Following the liquidation of the incumbent contractors and subsequent termination of both the EPC and O&M contracts, the Brockwell team has lead the process which will see the project into operation late 2023.

Brockwell Energy Services Ltd (“BESL”) were appointed by Earls Gate Energy Centre Limited (“EGECL”) the 50/50 JV owned by Brockwell Energy and Encyclis to take on the Principal Contractor role under an EPCM type model, with responsibility for construction, safety, quality, commercial, programme, budget and commissioning.

Neil Young, Brockwell COO commented “We considered a number of options in collaboration with our JV partner Encyclis, for the appointment of a new Principal Contractor including the appointment of large engineering consultancies as EPCm contractors. In discussion with the shareholders and lenders we quickly established that BESL were best placed to drive the recovery of the project having already geared up the teams to manage a preservation phase while the broader rectification plan was formed and approved by shareholders and lenders and, with the addition of a number of key appointments, would have the competencies and importantly determination required to recover the project and safely drive it into commercial operations. We have a very challenging road ahead and a number of macro-economic issues have added to the challenges in the supply chain, I am confident the team is very well placed and resourced to work through these challenges to deliver a best-in-class asset for EGECL and the lenders.”
